Units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 25 in English (any) and a study score of at least 20 in mathematics (any).
This course has been designed to enable graduates to pursue a computing career in areas requiring a strong business and commercial background, or a career in one of the career business discipline areas supported by commercially relevant professional computing skills.
Students must complete a major in one of the following
disciplines taught by the faculty: accounting, business law (by off-campus
learning only), economics, electronic business, human resource management,
international business (by off-campus learning only), management and
marketing.
Other studies may be drawn from any of the disciplines taught on the Gippsland
campus by the Faculty of Business and Economics. These other studies can form a
professional specialisation in one of the following areas: professional
accounting, finance, information technology, human resource, international
management, services management, tourism management and international marketing
and commerce.
Students must also complete a major sequence from the following disciplines
taught by the Faculty of Information Technology: system development, business
systems, network technology.
Note that students are unable to complete either an e-business major or an
information technology professional specialisation on the business side of the
degree.
All units studied must be from the Faculty of Business and Economics and the
Faculty of Information Technology.
The degree requirements are:
(a) Students must complete 18 units (108 credit points) from the Faculty of
Business and Economics as follows:
(i) Six compulsory units:
(ii) A major of
at least eight units (48 credit points) in a discipline from the faculty with
at least two units (12 credit points) at each of second and third-year levels.
All units taken as part of the major are limited to units taught by departments
of the faculty on the campus delivering this program.
(iii) A maximum of eight first-year-level units (48 credit points).
(iv) A minimum of four units (24 credit points) at third-year level from those
offered by the campus delivering this program.
(v) At least four non-compulsory units (24 credit points) must be taken from
outside the main field of study.
(b) Students must complete 16 units (96 credit points) from one of the Faculty of Information Technology sequences as follows:
(i) The compulsory units GCO1063, GCO1811, GCO1812, GCO1813, GCO1815, GCO1821, GCO2811, GCO2812, GCO2813, GCO2814, GCO2815, GCO2817, GCO3811, GCO3819*.
* Students may opt to take the 12-point unit GCO3800 (Industry project) in place of the six-point unit GCO3819 (Computing project).
(ii) Two third-year-level units from GCO3807, GCO3812, GCO3813, GCO3814, GCO3816, GCO3817, GCO3822, GCO3823, GCO3824.
(i) The compulsory units GCO1063, GCO1810, GCO1813, GCO1815, GCO1821, GCO2802, GCO2803, GCO2811, GCO2812, GCO2813, GCO2815, GCO3807, GCO3816, GCO3819*.
