Entry requirements

Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)

Units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 30 in English (any) and a study score of at least 25 in mathematics (any).

General course information

The combined course is designed for full-time students seeking either a career in law or in management. In addition to providing a core of law and business foundation units the course provides specialist study in key areas.
The first three years of the course will be combined studies in business and law and require students to study at the Caulfield and Clayton campuses. The remaining two years will be undertaken at the Faculty of Law, Clayton campus.

Majors and other studies in the degree

Students must complete a major specialisation in management and other studies from the disciplines taught on the Caulfield campus by the Faculty of Business and Economics.
Students must also complete the prescribed sequence in law.
All units studied must be from the Faculty of Business and Economics and the Faculty of Law.

Course structure

The degree requirements are:
(a) Students must complete 16 units (96 credit points) from the Faculty of Business and Economics as follows:
(i) Inner core - five compulsory units (30 credit points):

(ii) Outer core - five outer-core units (30 credit points) from the units listed below:

(iii) Strand - the following six units (36 credit points) are compulsory and complete a major specialisation in management:

(b) Students must complete 156 credit points from the Faculty of Law as follows:
(i) In the first three years, students should include from the Faculty of Law the units LAW1100 (Legal process)*, LAW3300 (Criminal law)*, LAW2100 (Contract)*, LAW3400 (Property)*, LAW1003
(Skills, ethics and research A)* and LAW2003 (Skills ethics and research B)*.
(ii) The final two years of the program must include the compulsory units LAW3201 (Constitutional law)*, LAW3101 (Administrative law)*, LAW2200 (Torts)*, LAW3003 (Skills, ethics and research C)* and LAW4003 (Skills, ethics and research D)*.
(iii) Further units from the Faculty of Law to bring the total of Law units to 156 credit points

* Taught by the Faculty of Law on the Clayton campus.

Progression to further studies

Completion of the BBus(Management)/LLB will enable progression to an honours year and a variety of postgraduate courses either at Monash or other Australian or overseas universities. Details of specific postgraduate courses are available on inquiry from the faculty.
