Course structure

The degree requirements are:
(a) Students must complete 18 units (108 credit points) from the Faculty of Business and Economics.
(i) Inner core - six compulsory units (36 credit points):

(ii) Outer core - six outer-core units (36 credit points), including the two compulsory units (12 credit points) listed below and a further four units (24 credit points) from the remaining units listed below:

(iii) Strand - the following six units (36 credit points) are compulsory and complete a major specialisation in banking and finance:

(b) Students must complete 16 units (96 credit points) from the Faculty of Arts as follows:
(i) A major sequence of eight units (48 credit points) with at least four units (24 credit points) at third-year level.
(ii) A minor sequence of four units (24 credit points).
(iii) A third first-year sequence (12 credit points) from units offered in the Bachelor of Arts degree.
(iv) A further two units (12 credit points) of your choice from the Faculty of Arts.
(c) Students must also satisfy the following regulations:
(i) A total of 34 units (204 credit points) over a maximum of 10 years

(ii) Overall, a maximum of 14 units (84 credit points) at first-year level.
The degree requires the equivalent of four-and-a-quarter years of full-time study, but can be completed in four years by accelerating with an overload of 12 points. The degree must be completed in a maximum of 10 years of study.

Professional accreditation

The degree satisfies the educational requirements for senior associate membership of the Australasian Institute of Banking and Finance. Holders of the degree who have not completed the two years of employment in the banking and finance industry required for senior associate membership are eligible for associate membership in the interim.
