Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education (Secondary)

Course code: 1641 + Clayton + Administered by the Faculty of Education

This combined course for Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education (secondary) degrees enables students to take out both degrees after four years of study. Students complete 192 points of study in core arts and education components.

To satisfy the arts component of the double degree, students must complete 96 arts points (studies drawn from disciplines offered by schools in the Faculty of Arts), including a major, a minor, an additional two first-year-level units (normally a sequence) and a further 12 points. Students must be careful to select an arts major and minor that satisfies requirements for two teaching method specialisations.
For further details, see `Outline of studies' in the Faculty of Education entry of this handbook.
Note that it is possible to graduate from the Bachelor of Arts before completing all double degree requirements. To graduate from the Bachelor of Arts component of the double degree, students must have satisfied the above BA component requirements as well as successfully completed studies to the total value of 144 points (students are permitted to count up to 48 points of education units towards those 144 points). Students must also complete at least 36 points at third-year level. No more than 60 points at first-year level may be counted.
