The Diploma in Languages is an undergraduate qualification that permits students from faculties other than Arts to complete a language major while studying their primary undergraduate degree.
For entry into the Diploma in Languages, students must be enrolled in a bachelors degree either at Monash University or another university. Students in double degree programs may also apply for admission to the diploma. Approval is required from the home faculty, faculties or university. Applications are made directly to the faculty, not via VTAC or Monash International.
The Diploma in Languages requires students to complete a major (48 points) in a single language (selected from Chinese, French, German, Hebrew, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and Ukrainian). For a full outline of the majors that can be taken within the Diplomas in Languages, see the `Areas of study' section on the Arts faculty website at http://www.arts.monash.edu.au/current/coursework/study_areas/.
