Graduate Certificate in Wound Care

The Graduate Certificate in Wound Care is delivered via off-campus learning and is designed to provide the knowledge and skills to allow health professionals and veterinarian surgeons to effectively manage acute and chronic wounds.

The course has been developed in collaboration with the Wound Foundation of Australia, the National Ageing Research Institute, the University of Melbourne and La Trobe University.

Successful completion of this course will enable participants to:

Admission requirements

Admission to the course is available to graduates with a tertiary qualification or equivalent in pharmacy, veterinary science, medicine, podiatry, nursing or related disciplines.

Special requirements

Access to an IBM-compatible computer with CD-ROM and internet connection is essential.

Advanced standing

Applications for advanced standing will be considered on an individual basis and may be granted for up to six credit points towards the graduate certificate.

Course structure

This course, administered by the Centre for Continuing Education (Faculty of Pharmacy), is conducted over 12 to 18 months part-time and comprises eight units (five core and three electives).

Assessment

Students will be assessed in each unit. Assessment will be based on a combination of assignments, essays and examinations.

Students awarded a Graduate Certificate in Wound Care may apply to continue on to a Graduate Diploma in Wound Care, and then a Masters of Wound Care.
