The Master of Business Systems aims to provide an extended
education and training in methods used in the design, development and
applications of computer systems for the management of business operations.
This involves the study of business-related computer techniques and business
procedures leading to an understanding of the design, operation and control of
computer systems. Applications include those in management, planning,
scheduling, forecasting, production management, project management, financial
management, business modelling, multimedia communications, electronic data
interchange and other functional areas of business, industry and government.
This course is offered as a part-time off-campus learning course by the
Gippsland School of Computing and Information Technology. It may be possible to
transfer from the off-campus mode to the on-campus mode at Clayton.
Off-campus students need to make use of a personal computer and must have
internet access. Students should consult with the course director to ensure
computer compatibility with software used in the course.
Graduates of an equivalent Australian bachelors degree will normally be admitted to the course.
The course consists of 72 points (12 units of six points each) of
coursework units.

Students may
select from the on-campus units of the School of Business Systems with
permission of the course director.
(c) Two additional Faculty of Information Technology electives (12 points) -
these must be level 4 or higher units offered on-campus or off-campus. Units
outside the Gippsland School of Computing and Information Technology and the
School of Business Systems may only be taken with permission of the course
director and the school responsible for the unit.
(d) Two general electives (12 points) - these must be level 4 or higher units offered by any school within the university including the Faculty of Information Technology. Units outside the Gippsland School of Computing and Information Technology and the School of Business Systems may only be taken with permission of the course director and the school responsible for the unit.
