The Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Mathematics and Science Education) is designed to meet the needs of teachers, coordinators, text and curriculum developers and lecturers at all levels wishing to increase their understanding of recent developments in teaching, assessment, curriculum and research in science and mathematics education, as well as teachers and other educators who wish to gain higher qualifications and research expertise in science and mathematics education.
To be eligible for admission to the course, applicants must hold either an approved three-year bachelors degree and an approved fourth year of study, or an approved four-year bachelors degree, or have qualifications or experience considered by the faculty board to be equivalent to, or a satisfactory substitute for, the above awards.
The course consists of 48 credit points of study. Students will complete four 12-point units (two specialist elective units and two general electives):

Candidates who successfully complete the Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Mathematics and Science Education) may complete a masters degree by undertaking up to a further two units (including a research core unit).
The Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Mathematics and Science Education) requires a minimum of at least one year of full-time study and no more than three years of part-time study. Each of the units is one semester in length. The expected number of hours per week for a part-time student is 24.
