Doctor of Business Administration

Course code: 3186 + Course abbreviation: DBusAdm + Caulfield + On-campus + Six semesters full-time, 12 semesters part-time + Course director: Professor James Sarros

This is a professional doctorate combining coursework and research. It is ideal for students who wish to research their area of expertise in depth, but who do not wish to do this using the methodology of a single research topic.

Admission requirements

Applicants need to have completed:

• a masters degree by coursework in any field of business administration with first class honours or second class honours division A, at Monash or an equivalent institution, or
• a masters by research degree.

Applicants also need to satisfy the following admission requirements:

• completed at least one unit in a quantitative area at either graduate or undergraduate level, and
• at least two years professional experience in any field of business administration.

All candidates will be required to complete four units of coursework and a research component of 60,000 words. Intake: March and July.

Course structure

(a) Students must complete four core units:

• MGC6000 Qualitative business research methods
• DBA6000 Quantitative business research methods
• DBA6008 Current issues in business
• DBA6007 DBA seminar

(b) Students must complete the following research components:
(i) Research component - stage 1 (first year)
(ii) Research component - stage 2 (second year)

(iii) Research component - stage 3 (third year)
