This course has been especially designed to provide business personnel with an in-depth understanding of current management theory and practices, and to develop the skills and abilities required to lead and manage organisations in unpredictable and rapidly changing environments. A major feature of the Graduate Diploma in Management is the application of theoretical concepts and models to organisational realities. At one level, the course focuses on the strategic organisational issues of complexity, design, culture and active adaptation in dynamic environments. On another level, the course adopts a micro perspective and explores the importance of learning and self-management, specific managerial competencies, leadership and stakeholder relationships.
(a) Students must complete three core units (18 credit points):

must complete five units (30 credit points) from:
(i) units chosen from graduate-level units taught by the Department of
Management, providing the selection meets overall course objectives and
receives program coordinator approval
(ii) up to a maximum of two units (12 credit points) from
units taught outside the Department of Management, providing the selection
meets overall course objectives and receives program coordinator approval, with
the remaining units to be chosen from graduate-level units taught by the
Department of Management.
Students should complete four 9000-level units before commencing 5000-level
units.
Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Management,
including successful studies in two 5000-level units from the Department of
Management, will be able to articulate directly into one of the Department of
Management's masters courses. To complete a masters course, students will be
required to complete a further four 5000-level units.
