The course has been designed for graduates from non-economics
disciplines who wish to gain a formal qualification in applied economic
studies. Alternatively, students may hold a degree in commerce or business
during which they completed only the equivalent of first-year economics or
which is of no more than 10 years standing.
(a) Students must complete three core units (18 credit
points):
- ECG9102 Introduction to macroeconomic theory and policy (core)
- ECX9120 Introduction to microeconomic theory and policy (core)
- ETG9105 Economic statistics (core)
(b) Students must
complete five units (30 credit points) from the following list:
- ECG9146 Regional development and policy
- ECG9150 Natural resources and environment
- AFG9144 Financial institutions management
- ECG9143 Economics of money and banking
- ECG9121 Economics of international trade
- ECG9170 Issues in labour economics
- ECG9103 Ethics, economy and society
- ECG9161 Theory and practice of economic reforms
Students may select
any combination of elective units, however the following streams are recommended:

- ECG9150 Natural resources and environment
- ECG9103 Ethics, economy and society
Two of the
