The Italian Studies program offers PhD and MA by research (100 per cent). For details, refer to the entries on these degrees under `General information' earlier in this section. Italian studies focuses on the study of Italian literature, history, language and linguistics, Renaissance culture and literature, women's studies, cinema studies, and social and linguistic issues connected with Italian migration to Australia. Any examination of these cultural issues inevitably also addresses issues of identity, gender relations, and the diversities within Italian social and family systems.
Supervision is available in the following areas: 19th and 20th-century Italian literature, medieval and Renaissance culture and literature, Italian sociolinguistics, Italian women's studies, Italian theatre and cinema studies, Italian migration studies and Italian cultural studies.
