Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and Management

Course code: 1506 + City campus + Normally two years part-time + Course director: Dr Ken Coghill + Total credit points required: 48 + Attendance not required + Fee-paying course: unit fee $1815 (2003)

General course information

This course is designed to help people understand the conceptual framework of public policy and management in the public sector. The course will analyse the contemporary major challenges in public policy and public management and the range of solutions being canvassed to address these by modern government. It builds on the core knowledge of the first four units to provide more in-depth knowledge of public policy and management.

Course structure

The course of study is one year full-time, or two years part-time. Part-time students should enrol in two units per semester.
Full-time students should enrol in four units per semester. Students must complete eight units:
(a) Four core units

(b) Four elective units chosen from either the following electives, or from other departments in the Faculty of Business and Economics or other faculties of Monash University, subject to the approval of the MPPM program director:

* This unit is currently offered on-campus only.

Articulation

Completion of the Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and Management will allow direct entry into the Master in Public Policy and Management.
