Bachelor of Arts (Journalism)/Bachelor of Education


General information

Course code: 1804 + Gippsland + Administered by the Faculty of Education

Objectives

This double degree provides students with a major in journalism, a minor in another arts field of study and a sequence of studies in education leading to registration as a primary or secondary teacher. Career flexibility and adaptability are significant assets in modern society and this double degree offers students such flexibility.

Course structure

A candidate for the double degree must fulfil the following requirements to receive the awards of Bachelor of Arts (Journalism)/Bachelor of Education:
(a) a journalism major (48 points)
(b) an arts minor (24 points)
(c) arts electives (24 points)
(d) the prescribed sequence offered by the Faculty of Education (96 points)
(e) a total of 192.

Arts minors

The arts minor in the primary stream may be chosen from behavioural studies, sociology, history-politics, Australian Indigenous studies, Indonesian, writing, mass communications or psychology. The arts minor in the secondary stream may be chosen from behavioural studies, sociology, history-politics, Australian Indigenous studies, Indonesian (only if studied at VCE level) or psychology.
