Postgraduate Certificate of Education (general course option)


General information

This program is designed for students wishing to pursue their studies at postgraduate level from across a broad range of areas.

Admission requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Postgraduate Certificate of Education, applicants must hold either an approved three-year bachelors degree and an approved fourth year of study, or an approved four-year bachelors degree, or have qualifications or experience considered by the faculty board to be equivalent to, or a satisfactory substitute for, the above awards.

Course outline

The course comprises 24 credit points of study. Students will complete any two 12-point units selected from the units offered within the postgraduate coursework studies programs and approved by the course coordinator.

Candidates who successfully complete the Postgraduate Certificate of Education may complete a postgraduate diploma or a masters degree by undertaking a further two or four units respectively.

Pathways

Where students undertake a series of units that meet the requirements of an approved pathway, this pathway will be shown on their testamur.

Length of course/workload required

The Postgraduate Certificate of Education requires a minimum of one semester of full-time study and no more than two years of part-time study. Each of the units is one semester in length. The expected number of hours per week for a part-time student is 24.

Flexible learning

Units within the Postgraduate Certificate of Education are offered in various flexible learning modes. These may include units offered via summer school, winter school, through on-campus and off-campus modes. Some units may be offered on one or more campuses or in more than one mode.
