This eight-unit course is designed for persons who are working, or intending to work, in any area of industrial relations, management, HRM or trade union activities. The course focuses upon the workplace aspects of industrial and employee relations, and links industrial relations and employee management practices with the broader issues of economic policy, wage and labour policy, efficiency and productivity. The institutional and legal framework for industrial and employee relations is also covered in detail.
Applicants require a pass degree or an equivalent qualification from a
recognised tertiary institution, or an executive certificate from this faculty
with a credit average or above. Candidates may be eligible for a maximum of
four credit exemptions for units considered to be equivalent to particular
units in the course of study. Credit is restricted to study completed in the
last five years. The course director assesses credit exemptions. This is a fee-
paying course. Applicants should consult the Department of Management as to the
2003 course fee.
Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Industrial and
Employee Relations may apply for admission to the Master of Industrial and
Employee Relations.
