Students will gain a creative and critical understanding of current theatre practice, including its history, production, reception and other cultural and aesthetic issues that inform its ongoing evolution in local and global contexts. While focused on theatre in the context of community, educational and professional contexts, the program will also consider the cultural diversity of theatre in the local and global context. It will encourage interdisciplinary approaches to the theory and practice of theatre and performance. The teaching will be based in the theatre and rehearsal spaces of the Monash Performing Arts Centre.
A three-year bachelors degree with a credit average in the final year of the degree, or a three-year arts diploma with the equivalent of three years professional experience in the performing arts industry. Applicants in the latter category will need to supply a CV, a 1000-word statement and the names of two professional referees.
