This postgraduate course, offered full-time over 18 months or part-time over three years, provides training in theoretical and practical skills about the processes involved in social research projects. It is specifically designed for people who will design, conduct and evaluate various social research projects. It is also designed to extend the skills of policy administrators who analyse research reports, formulate commissioned research projects and work together with staff researchers and/or outside consultants.
A bachelors degree in sociology or any cognate discipline with at least a credit average in the final year, or a pass average with demonstrable professional experience at a senior level in a relevant area (such applicants will need to supply a CV, a 1000-word statement and the names of two professional referees); a Postgraduate Diploma of Arts (Applied Social Research).
Students may exit with a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Social Research after successful completion of 48 points, including the core level four units listed below, or a Graduate Certificate of Arts after successful completion of 24 points.
