Tuition fees: HECS and PELS

A limited number of HECS places are available for many Monash Arts postgraduate coursework programs. Full-fee paying courses include publishing, music, civil ceremonies, geographic information systems, and corporate environmental and sustainability management. For full-fee- paying courses, the Commonwealth Government's Postgraduate Education Loans Scheme (PELS) is normally available. For information on fees charged for particular courses, refer to the Monash Arts website at http://www.arts.monash.edu.au/about.

PELS is an interest-free loans facility for eligible students who are enrolled in postgraduate non-research courses, excluding faculty certificates, for which there are no HECS places available. PELS enables eligible students to obtain a loan from the Commonwealth Government to pay all or part of their tuition fees incurred. It is available for both commencing and continuing students. The commonwealth pays the amount of the loan directly to a student's institution. Similar to the arrangements for HECS, students repay their loan through the taxation system once their income reaches the minimum threshold for compulsory repayment.
Refer to the following website at http://www.hecs.gov.au/pels.htm for further information on PELS.
