Areas of research specialisation include applied Spanish linguistics, culture and civilisation of the Hispanic world, feminist literature in the Hispanic world, 19th and 20th-century Spanish American literature and culture, 19th and 20th-century Spanish literature, postmodernism, pre-Columbian literature and culture, Spanish socio- linguistics, and Latin American popular culture. Hispanic studies conducts its own fortnightly seminars in literary theory attended by both staff and postgraduate students.
