How to use this handbook

This handbook is divided into two main sections - the faculty information section and the unit section. The faculty information section provides information on the structure of the faculty, the courses offered, and the requirements of these courses. Students should refer to the specific course in which they are seeking an offer, or are enrolled, to ensure they understand the structure of their course.

It is important that students read and understand the structural requirements of the course so that completion is not delayed or jeopardised. Requirements can be found later in this section. If students require further assistance in choosing units, refer to the entry `Where to get help and advice in the faculty' later in this section.
Once students have determined which course they are interested in and whether they wish to study full-time or part- time, they should look up the unit section of this handbook to determine the details of the units they are interested in studying. Once students have selected their units, they should refer to the faculty timetable to check that there are no timetable clashes. The Faculty of Arts timetable is located on the web at http://www.arts.monash.edu.au/.
