General Information

Course code: 2009
Management of natural resources is becoming an ever-important issue in modern society. The core units of this program are selected to alert students to the issues of resource management, and to provide them with a wide range of analytical, monitoring, and management skills. Since, by its nature, resource management is a multidisciplinary study, the program provides scope for a number of elective units which may be selected from other disciplines of science and mathematics, or from relevant studies in computing, business management, communication, tourism, economics, sociology, or engineering.

Initial enrolment

Students are strongly advised to consult the appropriate course adviser when planning their initial study program.
Some units in the various discipline sequences are not offered in the off-campus learning mode every year. Many units are available only every second year; course planning must take this into account. Course planning must also take account of prohibited unit combinations, as detailed in the undergraduate handbook.

Assessment

Applied science units are generally assessed by assignments and tests/final examinations. In laboratory-based units, laboratory work is an integral part and counts towards assessment.

Advanced standing for previous study

Appropriate credit/s may be granted, in accordance with faculty policy, for studies completed at a recognised post-secondary institution less than 10 years prior to application. For a completed award, an applicant would be eligible for up to one-third credit transfer and up to one-half for an incomplete award.
