Graduate Certificate of Nursing (Community Health and Development)


General Information

Course code: 3551 + Offered by the School of Nursing (Gippsland and Peninsula campuses) in conjunction with Deakin Universityís School of Nursing + Full-fee-paying course: $4200 (Australian residents); $4350 (international students) + Course coordinator: Jenny Oates

Aims

This course has been specifically designed to prepare nurses to work in the community and across institutional sectors, in response to the new approaches to care management and promotion of people's health. In this new health care environment, community nurses are required to effectively manage change and be innovative are often the key professionals that coordinate client care.

Entry requirements

Applicants would normally have relevant registration (eg Division 1 or 3 with the Nurses Board of Victoria), with at least one year of nursing experience, and have a degree in nursing or a related discipline.

Course structure

This course may be undertaken on campus, by off-campus learning, or by flexible learning mode (ie a combination of on-campus and off-campus modes). Satisfactory completion of the course requires studies totalling 24 credit points of study over one year. Students are required to undertake two of the following core units and two elective units:
