The
BSW is a two by two course. All social work graduates must complete a total of
four full years of tertiary studies to be eligible to join the Australian
Association of Social Workers (AASW). The Monash course accepts students with a
minimum of two completed years of a university degree, and adds two years of
study (full-time or the equivalent part-time) focusing on core social work
studies.
Applicants must also have undertaken university studies of at least one year in

Potential applicants are encouraged to consult with the department to ensure
their planned studies meet these requirements.
The BSW is offered part-time and full-time, both on-campus and by off-campus
distributed learning.
All units are compulsory.

Students enrol for honours at the end of their fourth year of the Bachelor of
Social Work, and must have obtained at least distinction grades in BSW units to
the value of not less than 16 credit points at fourth-year level and an
additional eight points at third-year or fourth-year level.
Honours is undertaken over two semesters and entails the completion of two
12-point units , one taken in each semester, and a dissertation valued at 24
points.
