Major prizes awarded in previous years
An award of $700 to one student completing the final semester of his or her major studio in the Bachelor of Visual Arts. The criteria for selection will be based on overall excellence and quality of the work presented in the final semester of studio work. Each member of the academic staff will normally nominate one student for the award, and during assessment week, the nominated student's work will be available for viewing in the Switchback Gallery. All academic staff from the Gippsland Centre for Art and Design (including the head of the centre) will be expected to vote using the senate voting procedure.

An award to a first-year Bachelor of Visual Arts student of Gippsland origin or who has received his/her education in Gippsland, and who has entered Monash University, Gippsland campus, through a college of TAFE. The recipient of this award is announced following the first semester by the board of examiners at the end of June. A chosen example of the student's work is to be available for display in the shopping centre management office for the balance of the academic year.
Up to five awards, each of $200, to students enrolled at any level of the undergraduate course at Gippsland. One student has been selected from each of the following areas: art history and theory, first-year visual arts studio, second-year visual arts studio, third-year visual arts studio, and overall contribution to the centre. The recipients will have shown great commitment and effort within the area throughout the year. The academic staff in each discipline will be responsible for selecting the prize winner for their respective area.
Two $500 awards, one to an outstanding student of the Bachelor of Fine Art -- Tapestry, and the other to an outstanding student of the Bachelor of Fine Art -- Printmaking.

This award is valued at $1000 to a third-year student of Bachelor of Fine Art -- Sculpture.
This award is valued at $500 to a third-year student of Bachelor of Fine Art -- Sculpture. The award is to be used in establishing a studio.
This award goes to the best third-year student of the Department of Applied Arts who is enrolling in the honours degree. It was contributed by the former chancellor of Monash University, Mr D. W. Rogers, and his wife, Mrs J. Rogers. The award carries a prize of $1000.
This award will be acquisitive, with a value of $500, and awarded annually to a graduating student from the Department Applied Arts. The head of Applied Arts will nominate the student's work for consideration by the selection panel, which will comprise representatives of the Latrobe Regional Gallery and the Department of Applied Arts. Funds for the award are provided by Ms Ingrid McGaughey, who makes an annual donation to the Latrobe Regional Gallery for the purchase of glass works to build the McGaughey Glass Collection. The acquired work will be included in this collection at the Latrobe Regional Gallery. The purpose of the award is to assist in furthering the career of the individual artist.
