Postgraduate certificates and diplomas of education are designed for
graduates who have completed a fourth year of post-secondary study, usually in
education. The normal duration for each is one semester full-time or two
semesters part-time for a postgraduate certificate and two semesters full-time
or four semesters part-time for a postgraduate diploma.
Most postgraduate certificates and postgraduate diplomas have been designed to
fully articulate with the Master of Education by coursework degree including
its specialist streams.
The
Postgraduate Certificate of Education and the Postgraduate Diploma of Education
are designed to meet the needs of educators, educational administrators,
managers, policy-makers and others interested in learning and education and in
working in the wider educational community.
The programs are offered either as a generalist stream or as a series of
specialist streams. In the generalist stream, students will be able to choose
their units from across the broad spectrum of units offered in any one year. In
the specialist streams, units will be specified.
Students
may choose to enrol in the postgraduate certificate or postgraduate diploma and
carry the units completed into the relevant Master of Education pathway,
provided such articulation into the higher level qualification is done within
specified time limits. Students will normally enrol in the higher-level award
and, if they have selected a Master of Education program and are unable to
continue, they can elect to exit the course with an intermediate award.
