Faculty Certificate in Tourism


General information

This program offers suitably experienced people the opportunity to further develop and upgrade their skills and expertise in the field of tourism, and to familiarise themselves with contemporary debates and developments in this field. The faculty certificate also provides a means for those with extensive industry experience who may not have a tertiary qualification to enter the graduate program in tourism at an appropriate level. In particular, the program will introduce students to the tourism industry in Australia today, to some of the key cultural issues in the field and to the changing international framework within which the industry operates. The faculty certificate would usually be undertaken on a part-time basis over one year, however at the discretion of the director it may also be taken on a full-time basis in the first semester of each year. Candidates who obtain grades of at least credit average may apply for entry to the Graduate Diploma of Tourism and, if accepted, will be granted a maximum of 24 points credit.

Candidates with a bachelors degree are eligible for admission. Those without tertiary qualifications who seek admission to the faculty certificate should have the following:

The program requires the completion of two 12-point units to the value of 24 points. Students must complete two compulsory units:
