Graduate Diploma in Arts (History Education)*


General information

This course brings fresh approaches to the study of history together with innovative classroom practice to meet the needs of the teaching profession and advance the historical understanding of course participants. This nationally delivered course will be innovative, explore the possibilities of the web, and encourage the development of a critical approach to the new technologies. Through the strategic partnership with the University of Melbourne, the course will provide an appropriate mix of intensive weekend schools and online delivery as well as establishing credit points for approved professional development activities in history education. The classes in the course will be taught at the Monash Clayton campus, although online delivery may become available. The duration of the course is two years part-time.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have a bachelors degree. Those without an undergraduate degree but with a teaching qualification and demonstrable professional experience in line with current practice may be admitted to the Graduate Certificate in Arts (History Education). If they achieve credit results or higher for these units, they can apply for the graduate diploma according to existing faculty policy.
