Students may choose to leave the program after completing 48 points and receive a Postgraduate Diploma in Multimedia Computing. In order to do so, they must have completed the core units listed below and 12 points of electives from the list below.
Students
should have completed one of the following:
1. A three-year computing, computer science or computer engineering
degree from a recognised university or institute of higher education. Normally,
such degrees will be those that have professional IT recognition, for example
by the ACS, BCS or other professional body. A credit average in final-year
computing units is normally required, but extensive relevant professional
experience in a technically demanding role will be taken into account when
assessing applications for admission.
2. The Graduate Diploma in Computing or an equivalent graduate
diploma.
3. An honours degree in computing or computer science with a grade of
HII or better. Honours graduates will be eligible for 24 points of credit at
the fourth-year level and will be able to qualify for the Master of Multimedia
by completing 48 points of approved units.

The Master of Multimedia Computing course consists of 72 points and is designed to be taken over three semesters full-time, although most students take the course on a part-time basis over two or three years. It is offered in on-campus mode at Caulfield campus and in off-campus distributed learning from the Gippsland campus.
Not more than two 9000 postgraduate units. More detailed information on unit content is on the web at http://www.gscit.monash.edu.au.
A combination of assignments and final examination for each unit.
Students who have completed a recognised honours degree or postgraduate diploma in information technology or computer science will be awarded 24 points of credit and will be required to complete 48 points of approved units.

Completed applications to be forwarded to the Student Services Officer, Gippsland School of Computing and Information Technology, Monash University, Churchill 3842, by 21 September 2001 to be considered for a first-round offer. Applications received after that date, but before 19 October 2001, will be considered for a second round of offers. Later applications may be considered if places are available.
