Off-campus distributed learning is a flexible mode of study which is based
on a combination of independent learning materials and learning support
systems, whereby on-campus attendance by students is either not required or is
kept to a minimum. Each unit studied in the distributed learning mode has the
same content and assessment as the equivalent on-campus unit.
A variation on this approach, used in particular situations (eg in some
overseas countries where English is not the most common language of the student
group) involves the provision of a more exhaustive program of supplementary
face-to-face tuition. Courses offered by this alternative approach are listed
on page 165.
