Bachelor of Science (Honours)


General information

Course code: 1776 Gippsland campus
The aim of this course is to provide a fourth year of advanced study and research training for students who have completed a BAppSc, BSc or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of 24 points at distinction grade (70 per cent) in the relevant third-level major discipline.
The BSc(Hons) program is designed to prepare graduates for scientifically-oriented careers in private enterprise or government, or for entry to postgraduate candidature (MAppSc, MSc or PhD) for students with sufficiently good results.
The course may be completed in one year of full-time study or over two years part-time.

Course structure

Approved candidates will enrol in one of the following two subjects as appropriate:

Each subject will consist of advanced-level coursework offered as discrete units and a research project completed with supervision by an academic staff member of the School of Applied Sciences. The research project will culminate in the submission of a dissertation and an oral presentation. Students will in many cases undertake part or all of their project working in an external approved research environment.
