Course code: 0530 Clayton campus
The
combined course for the degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science
will normally be four years of full-time study or eight years of part-time
study. An honours degree in either arts or science will require one further
year of full-time study. Except with the permission of both faculties, students
will be required to complete the combined course within 10 years.
Students must study five first-year sequences, two from the Faculty of Science,
two from the Faculty of Arts, and one other from either Science or Arts over
the duration of the course; only four sequences will be taken in the first year
of study.
Students will then go on to complete three major sequences and a minor
sequence. At least one major must be taken in Science and another in Arts and
the third may be from either Arts or Science. If the two majors are taken in
Science, then the minor sequence must be taken in Arts and vice-versa.
Students are required to pass a total of 192 credit points to complete the
requirements for the BA/BSc, with 96 points from the faculty in which two
majors are completed, 84 points from the faculty in which one major and one
minor are completed, and 12 points of additional subjects from either
faculty.
They may be eligible to graduate with either a BA or a BSc after three years,
depending on the subjects studied. The Faculty of Arts requires arts studies to
be chosen from the arts disciplines in the subject listings. The Faculty of
Science requires science studies to be chosen from the disciplines in this
section and the subject listings. Students undertaking either geography or
psychology should note that geography will count only towards the arts
component of the double degree and psychology only towards the science
component of the double degree.
Students in the BA/BSc degree may NOT take subjects from faculties other than
the Faculties of Arts and Science.
