The Faculty of Information Technology offers a wide range of undergraduate
degree courses covering different aspects of computing. The courses are
designed to equip students to enter the computing profession in a variety of
areas including the application of computer technology to information systems
in commerce and industry, and the design, construction and programming of
computer equipment.
Students who satisfy the academic requirements and who wish to gain a deeper
knowledge and understanding of their area of major study may choose to take a
fourth or honours year. The normal qualification for admission to honours is a
credit grade or better in the area of major study.
Monash provides a range of courses in multimedia, from those that specialise in the computing aspects -- Bachelor of Multimedia Computing (Faculty of Information Technology) -- to those that specialise in the design aspects -- Bachelor of Design (Multimedia Design) (Faculty of Art and Design) -- and those that provide a broad-based education across all areas -- Bachelor of Multimedia (provided jointly by the Faculty of Information Technology, which manages the course, and the Faculty of Art and Design).
The degree courses offered by the faculty reflect the diversity of studies in business systems, computing and computer science, digital systems, information management and systems, multimedia, network computing and software engineering that are available at the Monash campuses.

Students who undertake a major in computer science in either the Bachelor of Science or the Bachelor of Economics are eligible to apply for entry to the honours program in computer science. Applications for entry to the honours program must be made to the faculty administration office by 30 November each year.
