Students in the Bachelor of Business (tagged) single-degree programs take
six to eight elective subjects (36 to 48 points) in the 144-point (24-subject)
program. Of these, six subjects (36 points) can be taken from any discipline
within any faculty, subject to approval from other faculties where required,
while the remaining, up to two subjects (12 points), must be taken from the
subjects offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics.
To complement the flexibility of these programs, the following additional
regulations must be met:
Candidates enrolled in any of the disciplines of
the Bachelor of Business (specialised) degrees should discuss their choices of
electives with their course coordinator before entering the second year of the
degree, so that a cohesive program can be planned.
Candidates enrolled in distance education courses in any of the disciplines of
the Bachelor of Business (specialised) degrees should discuss their choices of
electives with their course coordinator and will select from a number of
business-related subjects offered through the Distance Education Centre.
Candidates may take as electives in their own course any of the compulsory
subjects offered in another business discipline provided that the subjects
chosen do not duplicate the content of any compulsory subject in their own
course.
In addition,
business students are permitted to study as an elective a degree subject
offered by another faculty or department at Monash University, provided that
this is approved by the appropriate course coordinator and the faculty or
department teaching the subject. Forms for this purpose are obtainable from the
Faculty of Business and Economics administration offices.
Candidates should be aware
that not all electives are offered in each semester. The faculty
administration
offices will have information on the availability of specific subjects
before
each enrolment period.
