Undergraduate studies

General information

The faculty offers bachelors degrees on each of the Caulfield and Gippsland campuses, but the range of courses and major and minor sequences available is different on each campus. In addition, the faculty offers the Bachelor of Multimedia at the Berwick campus, in conjunction with the Faculty of Information Technology.
At Caulfield, students of the Department of Applied Arts can major in ceramics, studio glass or metals and jewellery. In the Department of Fine Arts, they can major in painting, printmaking, photomedia, sculpture, tapestry and visual arts, and in the Department of Design, students can undertake studies in design, visual communication, interior architecture, industrial design and multimedia design. The faculty has double degrees in industrial design and engineering, and in industrial design and education. A joint degree in multimedia is also available.
At the Gippsland Centre for Art and Design, students can take the visual arts studio programs. Gippsland also offers art and design studies by distance education mode. Art and design studies on all campuses include sequences in drawing and theory of art and design.
Some departments or centres may not offer all subjects in any one year depending on student demand and the availability of staff. Students will be notified as early as possible of the withdrawal of any subject. At the Gippsland Centre for Art and Design, previous major studios commenced prior to 1998 may be completed at the Caulfield campus from 1999.
