Masters degrees by coursework

Many disciplines offer a masters degree entirely by coursework. All students must complete 48 points of coursework subjects at fifth-year level in order to qualify for the degree. In some cases, a research project of 12 or more points may be undertaken. Students undertaking coursework degrees are not eligible to apply for scholarships.
For students undertaking a Master of Arts, Master of Bioethics (1998 onwards) or a Master of Social Work degree, the minimum pass is a credit 60 C. To qualify for the degree, students must have achieved a credit or better in all subjects. Students enrolled from 1998 onwards in the Master of Environmental Science degree must obtain a credit in all core and foundation subjects (these subjects are defined by a ´C' or ´F' in the subject code) and a credit average over all.

Entry requirements

The minimum entry requirements for a coursework masters degree are a four-year honours degree with a grade of H2B or above or a masters qualifying with grades of credit average or above or a graduate/postgraduate diploma with grades of credit average in a relevant discipline. Some departments and centres may require higher grades - refer to the individual program for details.
