This course is recognised by the College of General Practitioners.
Applicants must hold a medical degree from an Australian university, or have qualifications which are equivalent to, or are a satisfactory substitute for, the qualifications described above and have at least three years experience in clinical medicine.
Students will require access to a PC with a web browser. Interstate and international students will also require access to their local forensic facilities.
Students will be required to attend the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine for up to two weeks in both years of the course.
The course is two years part-time and consists of six units comprising three compulsory core units and three elective units. Core units will be offered in one year and the elective units in the following year. Students may enter the course in either year.
Assessment includes written assignments, case studies case book and oral presentation.
Credit transfer (up to a maximum of 30 per cent) may be granted for previously completed work which is substantially similar in terms of content, duration and standards as units contained in the Graduate Diploma of Forensic Medicine.
