This
double degree course is designed to enable graduates to pursue a computing
career in areas requiring a strong business and commercial background, or a
career in one of the business discipline areas supported by commercially
relevant professional computing skills.
Given the increasing impact of technological change on organisations, their
structures and their operations, more business graduates need vocational level
skills in computing and equally, more computing graduates need the ability to
apply their skills and knowledge over a greater range of business and
commercial applications. This course has been developed to cater for these
trends by providing business students the opportunity to develop an in-depth
knowledge of computing skills by completing a system development major or
business systems major which are not available in the bachelor of business. The
degree also enables computing students the option of developing in-depth
business skills and knowledge, which is not available in the bachelor of
computing, in at least two or more of the following bachelor of business degree
areas: accounting, economics, marketing, management and tourism management.
Normal
Monash entry requirements of the Victorian Certificate of Education or an
equivalent qualification apply. Successful applicants will have above average
results, with a grade average of at least C in English, and at least a D in an
area of mathematics. Students who have completed the first year of the Bachelor
of Business or the Bachelor of Computing with good academic results may be
admitted to the second year of the double degree with full credit for
appropriate first-year studies.
Mature-age applicants are considered on the basis of their employment history,
educational background and career objectives. A lack of formal qualifications
should not discourage inquiry.
