Distance education is a flexible mode of study which is based on independent learning materials and a learning support system, in which on-campus attendance is either not required or is kept to a minimum. Each unit studied in the distance mode has the same content and assessment as the equivalent on-campus unit. Currently, there are over 6000 students around Australia and more than 2000 living overseas studying from their homes through distance education at Monash.
