Entry requirements

An applicant must be a registered nurse (Division 1 or 3 in Victoria) or eligible for registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria.

The course

The Bachelor of Nursing (Post Registration) course is offered by distance education from Gippsland and on campus at Peninsula campus. It is possible to enrol by 'mixed mode' combining distance education and on-campus subjects. This course is also offered offshore in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. The duration of the course is normally two years part-time although it is also offered full-time over one year at the Peninsula campus.
The course is designed to enable registered nurses to access higher education through nursing studies at degree level, and to provide opportunities for the development of academic and clinical skills as a basis for postgraduate study and specialisation.
The requirements for the award of the Bachelor of Nursing (Post Registration) are satisfactory completion of eight prescribed subjects of study.

Course structure - on campus, Peninsula

The course is normally undertaken on a part-time basis over two years but may be completed in one year of full-time study. Some evening classes are scheduled between 5 pm and 8 pm. The course has a total of four semesters of study, with each semester running for 13 weeks. Most subjects have been designed so that a student spends one hour in private study for each subject contact hour.
