Course structure

The Bachelor of Information Systems (BIS) is offered by the School of Information Management and Systems. The aim of the BIS is to prepare students for the career of systems analyst in the development of information systems. For course map details, refer to map 9 in the 'Undergraduate course maps' section.
The pass degree for the Bachelor of Information Systems involves 144 points of study comprising:

No more than 60 points of first-year subjects may be counted towards the degree and at least 36 points must be at third-year level. The compulsory minor sequence from another faculty will comprise subjects in one discipline of at least 24 points. The choice of electives must include at least two subjects from the Faculty of Business and Economics. These two subjects may be included in the minor, in which case additional electives must be chosen to complete the 48 points. Electives may come from the Faculty of Information Technology or from outside the faculty.

Third year

The third-year subjects consolidate the students' understanding of systems development theory by giving them the opportunity to apply it in practice, and introduce them to a range of advanced topics in information systems. The subjects are:
