Studio
arts subjects may be taken in the Faculty of Art and Design - subject to
availability of places. Students in the Faculty of Arts must gain permission
from both the Department of Fine Arts, Caulfield campus (telephone
(03) 9903 2815) or the Gippsland Centre for Art and Design, Gippsland
campus (telephone (03) 9902 6261), and the Arts faculty office before
enrolment to be able to use these subjects as part of the free 52 points that
students may take towards the BA degree. Consecutive studies are offered in
both semesters, their content complementing aspects of first-year subjects in
visual arts. These subjects cannot be taken in combination with music
performance studies and students should be aware that they will be responsible
for the purchase of art materials. The subjects depend on studio participation
and students are required to attend all classes, and visits to a number of
exhibitions may be recommended.
Students at the Gippsland campus are advised to contact the administrative
officer at the Gippsland Centre for Art and Design (telephone
(03) 9902 6261) for further information of elective subjects
available in 1999.
First-year subjects are available in the areas of painting/drawing (Caulfield
and Gippsland), printmaking (Gippsland), sculpture (Gippsland) and photomedia
(Gippsland).
