A prize of $750 is awarded annually to a chemistry student who has completed third year of the BSc course in the Faculty of Science and who is enrolled in the BSc (Honours) course in the Department of Chemistry. Students who are permanent residents of Australia, or of whom at least one parent is a permanent resident of Australia, are eligible. The prize is awarded on the basis of relevant academic achievement and short-listed applicants will be required to make an oral presentation to the Dulux Technical Management at Dulux. Selection criterion is academic achievement but consideration may be given to such factors as character, leadership, personality and financial need.
Dow Chemical (Australia) Ltd provides funds annually for a scholarship valued at $1000 pa to be awarded to a student completing the degree of Bachelor of Science in the subject of chemistry. The scholarship is tenable in the second, third or honours year in the Faculty of Science and is awarded on the recommendation of a committee consisting of the head of the Department of Chemistry, a member of the Department of Chemistry, nominated by the head, and a representative of Dow Chemical (Australia) Ltd, nominated by the company. In awarding the scholarship the committee takes into account academic merit as demonstrated in the preceding annual examination in chemistry, qualities of character and personality and the personal circumstances of the candidate. The scholarship is only awarded to a candidate judged by the committee to be of sufficient merit.
Kemcor Australia provides a scholarship valued at $2500. The scholarship is awarded to a Bachelor of Science student intending to complete a chemistry honours degree, or to a combined degree student whose other major discipline is of Kemcor relevance, in which case the requirement for an honours degree may be waived. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of the student's academic achievement, character, leadership and teamwork qualities and motivation to work for Kemcor. The recipient will be selected by Kemcor from a pool of four candidates nominated by the third-year chemistry coordinator and a department member nominated by the department head. The scholarship is tenable in the student's third year and is awarded in first semester. A condition of the scholarship is that the student undertakes ten to twelve weeks summer vacation work with Kemcor, remunerated at an equivalent level to other vacation student work.
