Graduate Diploma in Applied Economics - GradDipApplEc

General

Course director: Dr Gennadi Kazakevitch
The course has been designed for graduates from non-economics disciplines who wish to gain a formal qualification in applied economic studies. Alternatively, students may hold a degree in commerce or business during which they completed only the equivalent of first-year economics or which is of no more than ten years standing. The course will target local and international students who are unable to study full-time or who do not have access to a university campus for campus-based part-time study.

Course objectives

On completion of the course students should:

Admission requirements

Applicants require a pass degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution or an executive certificate from this faculty with an average grade of credit or above.

Fees

This is a fee-paying course. Candidates should consult the School of Business and Electronic Commerce as to the 1999 course fee. Course fees are set and reviewed annually and are therefore subject to change.

Duration

The graduate diploma is normally completed in four semesters of part-time study.

Mode of offering

This course is offered by distance education from the School of Business and Electronic Commerce.

Credit for work done previously

Credits and exemptions may be granted for maximum of four subjects of relevant partially completed graduate studies. The merit of applications for credits and exemptions will be determined on a case by case basis. It is essential that subjects submitted for credit or exemption fit the philosophy and principles of this graduate course of study. Subjects studied more than five years ago are regarded as beyond a reasonable time limit for applicability and therefore not acceptable for credit/exemption.
