The Bachelor of Business/Diploma in Hospitality (Management) offers students
the opportunity to graduate with two separate awards, a Bachelor of Business
degree from Monash University and a Diploma in Hospitality (Management) from
East Gippsland Institute of TAFE. When taken in combination, students are able
to cross-credit subjects from one award to the other, allowing them to complete
both courses within four years of full-time study.
On completion of the double award program students will have the skills and knowledge required for a management or supervisory role in the hospitality industry. Students will also have:

Credits
and exemptions may be considered for previous tertiary level study or
post-secondary study (including TAFE) in Australia and overseas. Each
application is assessed on a case by case basis, and applicants should note
that credit for previous studies is not automatic.
Subjects studies more than ten years ago are regarded as beyond a reasonable
time limit for applicability and therefore will not be considered for credit or
exemption.
The Bachelor of Business subjects completed in the first year of this double award program will be completed on campus at the Bairnsdale Study Centre, with the second and third years being completed by distance education and the fourth year being completed by distance education or at the Gippsland campus of Monash University. The Diploma in Hospitality (Management) subjects will be completed on campus at the East Gippsland Institute of TAFE.
The
Bachelor of Business/Diploma in Hospitality (Management) is undertaken by a
combination of on-campus and off-campus study. The double award course is
normally taken over four years full-time study or eight years of part-time
study.
Candidates are required to meet the following requirements in the Bachelor of
Business:
(a) satisfactory completion of at least ninety-six credit points including
seven compulsory core subjects to the value of forty-two credit points as
follows:

completion of two major studies of at least thirty-six credit points each (six
subjects) in two of the following business teaching areas: accounting,
economics, management, marketing and tourism management
(c) undertake any additional studies required to complete the minimum
ninety-six credit points needed to meet the Bachelor of Business requirements
of the double award.
