Bachelor of Pharmacy/Bachelor of Commerce - BPharm/BCom

General

The following should be read in conjunction with the statement on the Bachelor of Commerce and the Bachelor of Pharmacy in the Pharmacy handbook.
The double degree course of Bachelor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Commerce requires a minimum of six years full-time or, for the Bachelor of Commerce component, the equivalent of two years in part-time study. The pharmacy component of the course can only be undertaken on a full-time basis. Students must complete the course within eleven years.
Students must complete subjects to the value of a minimum of 294 credit points over the length of the course, of which 102 points should come from subjects offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics (Clayton) and the remaining 192 points from the Faculty of Pharmacy. There is a degree of flexibility in the commerce component of the course structure. Students must normally complete seven compulsory first-year commerce subjects but have the freedom to choose all later year commerce subjects. The entire content of the pharmacy component of the course involves compulsory subjects. The course structure is shown in chart 15 in the section 'Charts of degree structures'. Students complete the Bachelor of Pharmacy in the first four years on the Parkville campus and then complete the Bachelor of Commerce program in the next two years on the Clayton campus.

Professional accreditation

This degree is recognised by both the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia as meeting academic requirements for membership. This is also true for senior associate membership of the Australian Institute of Banking and Finance. It also meets the requirements of the Pharmacy Board of Victoria. For all professional bodies membership is dependent upon the correct choice of subjects by students.
