1 To maintain and develop high quality education in the disciplines and professional practice of its art and design activities. In particular to:

applicants of the highest creative, perceptive and intellectual capabilities,
to educate them to achieve the highest practice standards of art and design;
and to simultaneously develop their capacity to think and act strategically and
ethically within the contextual framework of their discipline and the
sociocultural and commercial context.
3 To undertake practice/research within its disciplines, to the
highest professional standards and to extend knowledge within its disciplines;
and to conduct research on education in art and design and how best to achieve
the Faculty's academic objectives.
4 To disseminate knowledge about art and design, art and design
education, research and practice to students, the art and design professions,
the community, industry and government.
5 To provide a focus for art and design activities within Monash
and to encourage the understanding and development of visual arts and design
within Monash and to be responsible for all academic activities within this
domain.
6 To promote Monash University as a major centre for art and
design.
7 To engage with the art and design professions and related industries;
to develop research and consultancy opportunities for graduates.
8 To increase international opportunities for the Faculty's educational
and research students and staff, and at the same time, increase the
opportunities for international students and researchers to take Monash courses
and programs in Australia, at Monash international campuses, by distance
education, and by combination of all these.
