This subject can be taken together with another twelve-point third-year subject, including PHS3042 or PHS3162. The subject consists of six units which may be chosen from any of the third-year physics units offered by the department. The compulsory units `Nuclear physics' and `Solid state physics (lattice and electronic properties)'. The remaining four units will normally be chosen from physics units listed but approval may be granted for a subject from another department.
