Theoretical physics

12 points * Six 1-hour lectures and a 1-hour seminar class per week * First semester * Clayton * Prerequisites: PHS2011, PHS2022, MAA2011, MAT2010, MAA2032 and MAT2020

This subject can be taken together with another twelve-point third-year subject, including PHS3031 or PHS3151. The subject consists of six units which may be chosen from the third-year physics units offered by the department. The compulsory units are `Electromagnetism', `Statistical mechanics' `Quantum mechanics' and `Applications of quantum mechanics'. The remaining two units will normally be chosen from physics units listed but approval may be granted for a subject from another department.

Assessment

Examinations (6 x 1.5 hrs): 100%
