Supervised practicum second year

Each practicum is of approximately fourteen weeks supervised by a registered psychologist.

Research thesis

Approval for the topic of the research thesis must be obtained from the course coordinator. Topics should be relevant to forensic psychology. Regulations regarding these are listed in a handout provided at enrolment.

Application for entry to the MPsych(Forensic) program

Application forms are available from the Department of Psychology, Monash University, Clayton 3168, telephone 905 3968. The closing date for applications is usually in mid-November, and selection for the MPsych(Forensic) may include an interview, usually held in the first two weeks of December. Selection criteria include academic performance plus personal suitability. Referees' reports may be required.

Inquiries regarding the specific programs in counselling psychology, child and educational psychology and forensic psychology should be addressed to the course coordinators.

Unsatisfactory progress

First year

Students who fail any seminar unit will be liable for exclusion.

Second year

(1) Practicum: Students whose performance in practicum is deemed by field supervisor and university supervisor to be unsatisfactory will be liable for exclusion.

(2) Research: Students who fail to make satisfactory progress in their research thesis will be liable for exclusion. Normally, the thesis should be submitted by the end of the second year of full-time study.
